We’re once again joining forces with the American Heart Association (AHA) for American Heart Month to help raise awareness about heart disease and provide tips on getting “heart healthy” for your loved ones.
Teaming up with AHA for Valentine’s Day
AHA has put together a great set of tips on how to be heart healthy – including eating smart, adding more colorful vegetables to your diet and moving more. For Virgin America flyers, we’ve included some info on how to be heart healthy at 35,000 feet:
- Eat Smart – All of Virgin America’s menus are updated quarterly using an assortment of sustainable and fresh ingredients, including local fruits and vegetables, premium meats and artisan breads. Our focus on a fresh, diverse range of menu options has helped Virgin America capture the “Best Domestic Airline for Food” award in the Travel + Leisure 2014-2016 World’s Best Awards as well as being recognized by the Diet Detective once again in 2016 for having the “healthiest food in the air.” Our latest seasonal menu features items like the Winter Salad with Israeli couscous, roasted acorn squash, arugula, radicchio that can be ordered via our on-demand food menu.
- Move More – Believe it or not, this can still be accomplished onboard your flight – from your seat.
- Be Well – While our tech-savvy flyers love to multi-task onboard with our award-winning Red® inflight entertainment system and their PEDs – when not onboard, it’s a good idea to unplug once in a while (which also helps you get up and move more). AHA’s funny “Don’t be a tech zombie” video helps illustrate these points well.
