Alaska unveils 13 daily departures to 8 destinations from Paine Field

UPDATE 1/22/19: We’re postponing our scheduled start of service from Paine Field until March 4, 2019. Our latest post has all the details.

UPDATE 10/17/18: Alaska Airlines service out of Paine Field is expected to begin in early 2019. We’ll be sure to provide an update as soon as we have more information to share.

ORIGINAL POST 1/16/18: When Alaska Airlines first announced in May that it would offer new commercial service from Paine Field-Snohomish County Airport, there was one big question: Where will those flights go?

It’s time to reveal the routes.

Alaska will connect Paine Field to eight destinations along the West Coast with 13 daily nonstop departures starting in fall 2018, subject to government approval.

The all-jet service from Paine Field will fly to Las Vegas; Los Angeles; Orange County, California; Phoenix; Portland; San Diego; San Francisco; and San Jose, California. The number of flights for each destination along with departure and arrival times will be announced later in 2018, subject to government approval.

With Alaska’s new service from Paine Field, those looking to catch a flight north of Seattle and all around the North Sound (home to more than 1 million people) will have a new travel option closer to home. That’ll mean less driving to go farther south, saving time and fuel.

“Alaska aims to be the airline the West Coast loves to fly,” said John Kirby, Alaska’s vice president of capacity planning. “We’ve put together some great places to go to from Paine Field that we believe will make a lot of people very happy. It’ll be much easier for our guests in the North Sound to catch a flight business or pleasure, whether it’s for a fun weekend in Las Vegas, a work trip to L.A. or visiting family in the Bay Area.”

Alaska has the most West Coast nonstop destinations of any airline with flights to major business and technology hubs, and incredible vacation spots. And with 15 airline partners, Alaska can take its guests to more than 900 destinations around the world, especially with convenient connections through San Francisco and Los Angeles.

“Commercial air service at Paine Field will open up countless new opportunities for both business and recreational travelers in and around Snohomish County. Connecting our county to the rest of the world will be a huge asset as we work to strengthen and diversify our local economy,” said Patrick Pierce, president and CEO of Economic Alliance Snohomish County.

Alaska is creating an airline people love with low fares, great value, consistent reliability, award-winning service and a terrific loyalty program. Alaska’s all-jet flying from Paine Field will offer three classes of service: First Class, Premium Class and Main Cabin. Guests will enjoy Wi-Fi connectivity, free movies and TV shows, and free texting.

Propeller Airports and Snohomish County are currently building the new, state-of-the-art terminal at Paine Field. It’s set to open in fall 2018.

Comments

  1. Alaska flights would be great for me, here on Whidbey Island!!!

  2. How about Anchorage please .

  3. It would be wonderful to have non-stop flights to & from Albuquerque, NM to this new Paine Field location in Everett, WA. We fly up there every 2-4 months & my family lives in Lake Stevens. Which is an hour & 1/2 or more from Seattle Tacoma airport to there & back. Every inconvenient & expensive to get from & to the airport. Please consider!

  4. Omg YES!!! Thank Thank

  5. Would love to see a Boston route!

  6. San Fran works but I’d love to see Fresno on the list

  7. How about adding Oakland?

  8. Oh man…we were so hoping for Palm Springs ! How about it???

  9. How about Pain Field from Sacramento? Would be a big hit here.

  10. Whoo Hoo! That will save me a few hours each way! Thank you, Alaskaair.

  11. Tucson please.

  12. It would be lovely to run a couple of flights a day to and from Anchorage to Paine Field to make connections to all of those west coast destinations!

  13. Please add Spokane!!! Currently takes 5 hours to: drive to SeaTac (2), park car in shuttle lot (1), and arrive two (2) hours early. Driving all the way to Spokane takes 5 hours, so we drive (except in winter). Flying out of Paine Field would be so convenient! Please, please, please.

  14. Need to have at least one flight to Juneau, AK Alaska’s Capitol

  15. Paine Field to Santa Barbara……that would be a nice addition!

  16. Add Santa Barbara and I would be a happy camper!

    1. Me too! SeaTac traffic makes departures from there very hard on us in northern Washington. Santa Barbara direct please!

  17. Yay LA, my home town. This will make my life a lot easier. Thanks

  18. Please set up a direct route from Bellingham to Puerto Vallarta, If you can fly direct from Bellingham to Hawaii you can definitely fly direct to Puerto Vallarta Mexico. Many British Columbians would prefer to fly out of Bellingham on a direct flight to different areas of Mexico rather than out of Vancouver, BC. Be smart and tap into the Canadian market.

  19. Would love to see any West Coast flights going to Hilo, from Portland or Everett ?….

  20. Would love to see flights from Paine Field to Walla Walla

  21. Please add Santa Rosa, CA. So happy to be avoiding long drive to Sea-Tac in the future.

  22. Direct to Tucson please. If not, would there be a connecting flight to Tucson from Phoenix with a quick plane change and not much layover?

  23. Are they going to put any rental car companies there? I travel up there often for business and that is a very convenient location for me. I Normally use National Car Rental but any is better than none.

  24. Lihue and Spokane please, THANK YOU very much for the Everett departures

  25. How come Phoenix & no Tucson – (Green Valley rated the #1 retirement area in the U.S.)

  26. That’s great! However, can we have more convenient fflights in and out of Reno, Nevada please?

  27. As long as were throwing destinations into the hat, how about adding Salt Lake City and Denver for the North Sound and Canadian folks who don’t want to deal with SEA and the traffic through Seattle or the eastside? Yeah, there is competition, but you offer seriously superior customer service to “those guys”.

  28. Add a flight to Salt Lake City, which we fly to about 4 times a year and it would be amazing! I know a lot of people who would take that flight!

  29. Hoping you will add flights to Oakland as well.

    1. And I would second flights to/from OAK to Paine Field.

  30. I was so excited to read this as I live in PHX and being able to fly into Paine Field in Everett, WA is so much easier as my sister lives a few minutes from this airport. I hated having to have her drive me to SeaTac to catch my flight back to PHX. Traffic is unbearable at times. Thank you again !!!!!!

  31. Is there extended parking nearby?

  32. Wish you would pay more attention to service to/from Reno.

  33. I was looking forward to a Paine Field to Spokane route. Maybe soon?

  34. OGG please!!

  35. now maybe you can have a non stop to and from MSO. Compete with Allegiant Air Lines.

  36. OAK would be nice!

    1. Double Ditto on Oakland!

  37. Would love it if you added Ontario, California

  38. Santa Barbara, please!

  39. Hoping for a direct flight from Pain Field to Charleston,SC. How great would that be!

  40. What about billingham ?

    1. Don’t you mean Bellingham? Never heard of Billingham. Is it in England?

  41. Palm Springs please !

  42. I wish there were also flights north, into Alaska, but appreciate the new avenue into PHX.

  43. I am excited to fly into Everette from San Jose.

  44. Put in a non-stop to LIS and/or HAM, and I’m a lifetime customer!

  45. We eagerly look forward to flying these new routes, especially to Portland, Phoenix, and Los Angeles! Now, we will fly Alaska even more frequently!

  46. does the train go to Paine Field?

    1. Google maps says Amtrak stops in Everett about 14 minutes away from Paine Field by car/Uber. I hope Alaska coordinates well with the one train that goes over to Leavenworth daily, a 2 hour ride according to Amtrak’s site. Maybe they will have a van that goes to the train, which looks like it’s near downtown Everett.

    2. It does not…..I was just thinking about how they plan to manage transportation logistics. God knows how long/ expensive it will be to add another route stop on the train.

    3. Amtrak and Sounder trains serve Mukilteo and Everett, but not directly to Paine Field

  47. Entire extended family lives near Everett area. This will make our flights from Phoenix more efficient. We will fly more from Phx in the summer and they will fly more to PHX in the winter. WIN WIN

  48. Yeah Vegas! Hopefully Spokane and Lihue in the future??

  49. Wonderful news. Now just add Chicago to the flight route and it will be perfect!!

    1. Echo Chicago

  50. Live four miles from Paine Field…what a gift for several of our commutes!

    1. Add Palm Springs!
