4 ways to earn more miles
Everyone loves a good deal. When you choose to fly Alaska Airlines, not only are you always entitled to our low-fare guarantee, but if you’re a member of the award-winning Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan you’ll earn miles every time you fly. The more you fly, the more miles you accumulate, which can eventually get you an award trip on us or any of our 14 partner airlines. Fancy a trip to Dubai? How about Buenos Aires, Seoul or Paris? All of these and more are possible with our more than 800 partner destinations.
But you don’t have to be a frequent flyer to rack up miles. Here are a few other ways to help you get to your next award flight that much quicker.
1. Mileage Plan shopping
Mileage Plan Shopping offers you the chance to earn miles when you shop online at your favorite stores. With over 800 stores to choose from, you can find virtually any product or service you might want. How does it work? Just log in to Mileage Plan Shopping and start your shopping from there. That way we can track your purchase and add the corresponding miles to your account.
Mileage Plan Shopping also features special offers so you can earn double or even triple miles for buying items you already would. Need new outdoor gear? Earn four to five miles per dollar* on stores like Backcountry, The North Face, and New Balance. Cosmetics, health and beauty? Earn four to seven miles per dollar* you spend at stores like the Sephora, Vitamin Shoppe, and Murad. Back-to-school apparel and supplies? Earn two to three miles per dollar* you spend at stores like Nordstrom, Microsoft, and Staples
Offers rotate all the time so check back frequently for new deals. Some merchants offer in-store pickup, which is great way to earn miles on large purchases like a new TV or washer and dryer. And don’t forget – you can “stack” miles if you shop with your Alaska Airlines Visa Signature® card, which always lets you earn a mile for every dollar you spend on purchases.
2. Car rentals
Alaska has partnered with nearly every major car rental company to offer extra miles. You could earn double or triple miles on the rental itself, and if you use your Alaska Airlines Visa Signature card, that’s an extra mile for every dollar. In addition to miles for qualifying rentals, you can always find the latest deals in the Mileage Plan section of alaskaair.com.
3. Hotel bookings
Alaska recently partnered with Rocketmiles to get you more miles for hotel stays. If you book a hotel through Rocketmiles, you’ll earn between 1,000 and 5,000 miles per night. For a limited time, your first booking is good for an extra 3,000 miles. And, as always, use your Alaska Airlines Visa Signature card to earn one mile per dollar on your hotel booking.
4. Self-tag online
One of our newest tricks to make travel hassle-free for you, self-tag online, lets you print your own luggage tags so when you arrive at the airport, all you have to do is leave your bag with us at a self-tag drop-off areas.
If you are taking a nonstop flight within the U.S., make sure you’ve added your Mileage Plan number to your reservation. Everyone in your party who has a Mileage Plan number and checks a bag will earn 1,000 miles per eligible web check-in. Just check in at alaskaair.com like you normally do, click the self-tag option on the bag check page, and print the tags, which you then place in a reusable holder that you can order before your flight.
This promo runs through Oct. 20, 2015, and you can earn up to 5,000 miles during this period.
These are just some of the ways you can rack up those miles and get closer to that dream trip. Check out our deals page for the most up-to-date promos.
