Alaska Airlines has partnered with United for Puerto Rico, donating $25,000 to help provide aid to hurricane victims.

United for Puerto Rico is an initiative brought forth by the First lady of Puerto Rico, Beatriz Rosselló, in collaboration with corporate partners and private citizens, to provide aid and support to those in Puerto Rico affected by Hurricanes Irma and Maria.

“Our hearts go out to the people of Puerto Rico during this most difficult time, and although Alaska does not currently serve Puerto Rico, our company values inspire us to do the right thing,” said Shaunta Hyde, Alaska Airlines’ managing director of community relations. “We are proud to partner with United for Puerto Rico, which can make the right decisions about where these funds should be spent.”

Hurricane Maria took a heavy toll on Puerto Rico, leaving the entire island without power and nearly all if its 3.4 million residents without basic necessities like water and food. The hurricane was a Category 4 storm with winds of 155 mph when it made landfall on the U.S. territory Sept. 20.

  1. Thank you for supporting our Puerto Rican neighbors! I have PR friends and I love Alaska Air (even more so after you painted a beautiful plane for our Military Veterans!) – so…Carry On my dears!

  2. Good for you Alaska airlines for your donations to Puerto Rico. They are American citizens and should be helped to the maximum by our government. This is a generous show of unity and I’m sure is greatly appreciated by the people on the island of Puerto Rico
In this time of great need!! Judy Hinton

  3. Thank you Alaska Airlines, for stepping up with your generous donation for Puerto Rico. One world! We take care of each other!

  4. I loved the article about fly the Jews out of Africa to Israel to escape persecution. I think it was 48k+ you took to safety. That’s fantastic! Now what about doing that in Puerto Rico? Are you flying those people out of harms way? Ifnsoninwould love to hear about it. I love Alaska airlines and only fly you guys if possible, even if it costs more. I might hit MVP gold this year. The reason is because you are more personal, have better employees, and have a more customer friendly business operation. You hold yourselves to a high standard and it’s noticed. That’s why I hold you to a high standard.
    One love,
    Matt

    1. Thanks, Matt, for your feedback and for being a loyal flyer. We are working with partners such as Airlink, Red Cross and others to provide the desperate help that is needed on the ground in Puerto Rico. We also made the decision to provide a large cash donation to an organization where 100 percent of funds will be dedicated to helping hurricane victims recover. Our team explored multiple options and determined this to be the best way for us to help.

  5. BRAVO! Thank you so much for doing this. It’s the right thing to do.
